Mind Your Mind

MYM Collective

We are on a mission to help women of all ages to unlock the power of self awareness through expressive journal writing. Self awareness is about getting to know ourselves; our thoughts, emotions, and actions. When we know ourselves inside and out, we can cultivate mental well-being, strengthen our resilience, and unlock our full potential.

WHAT IS JOURNALING?

Journaling is the practice of routinely writing down our thoughts, feelings, experiences, and reflections. Studies have repeatedly shown that engaging in regular journaling can help reduce stress, manage anxiety, promote emotional regulation, provide opportunities for positive self-talk, and even strengthen resilience in the face of challenges.

You don’t need to be a skilled writer to benefit from journaling. You just need to be willing to write and express yourself in some way with a pen and paper.  Writing for only fifteen minutes a day, three days a week, can help improve your mental health.

WHAT WE DO

Journaling is a great way to improve our mental health, but many people don’t do it. Even those who start often give up because they can’t find the right way to write, get bored or, don’t see improvements in how they think, feel or behave. While journaling is usually done alone, journal writing in a group setting can help people learn from each others’ experiences and gain deeper insights.

We know that expressing yourself freely helps you understand yourself better. There are many different ways to journal, and we want to help you find the best style for you.

We run writing workshops and journaling groups in schools, workplaces, and our community. We show people how expressive writing and journaling can improve their lives.

More About MYM Collective

Trading in heels for sneakers and boardroom jargon for baby talk, Carol, a seasoned marketing manager and now mum of four, knows a thing or two about the juggling act that is modern womanhood. After a mid-life realisation that women are more prone to mental health struggles than men, Carol discovered the transformative power of journaling as her secret weapon for “minding her mind”.

Now, armed with a pen and a notebook, Carol is on a mission to empower women through her social enterprise, the Mind Your Mind Collective. She’s encouraging women everywhere to ditch the screens and uncover the therapeutic benefits of journal writing.

Carol has a QQI level 6 In Mental Health Awareness and has completed the Therapeutic and Reflective Writing course run by the Professional Writing Academy in the UK.
